Next Meeting Monday 6th February at 7:30pm
New House Country Hotel, Thornhill, Cardiff 7:30pm Speakers Alex Beard and Laura Leigh Clarke
Topics are New Year, New breakfast, New you and Finding your Money Mojo
Our first speaker is Alex Beard with New Year, New breakfast, New you
Born in Zimbabwe, Alex is really a child of the world. Having cast her proverbial hat down all across the globe, she has infused her culinary credentials with numerous intrepid and epicurean experiences, and now works as a personal chef to some of the country’s most powerful people.
As a toddler, Alex would peer precociously from a work top chair into simmering pots and floured bowls as she quietly watched her mother prepare family meals and delicious desserts from scratch. Inspired, she was soon mixing and seasoning for her mother, and before long she was baking her own cakes. Her passion for food extended into her teenage years as she first cut her teeth peeling spuds during a work experience stint at a hotel before landing a Saturday job at a local Italian restaurant. Apparently a ‘pot washer’, Alex was soon at the chopping board perfecting her dexterity and learning on the go as she peeled potatoes and chopped onions.
It was at this time that the streak of fervent independence and determination that has characterized her career became apparent. Leaving home at 15, Alex’s talent and passion was recognised by the restaurant’s head chef who offered her a full time position. From this point she never looked back.
Less than three years later she was working at Raymond Blanc’s two Michelin starred Le Manoir aux Quat Saison where her skills were honed and expanded. During her four years under Raymond’s tutelage she did various demonstrations with him on TV and at huge public events such as the London Food Show. Led by Le Manoir’s executive chef Gary Jones, Alex also cooked for HRH The Queen Mother and distinguished guests during her majesty’s birthday celebrations at a private residence in Oxfordshire.
While working at The Vineyard at Stockcross, for John Campbell, the desire to step out on her own became overwhelming and she soon hatched the plan for her first ambitious venture. Bringing her enthusiasm and initiative to a traditional but failing Welsh pub, Alex changed it into a gastronomic enterprise and turned its fortunes around. An emphasis on quality ingredients and innovative dishes helped establish the pub a solid reputation, as well as clientele from all over the surrounding areas.
Next came a fine dining catering company that offered a diverse range of services, from high end canapé parties and complete wedding meals to private nine course dinners in private homes with specially selected wines. Despite the complexities of running a business, however, Alex never ventured far from her true delight, cooking. During this period she held many private cookery classes as well as demonstrations at events such as the Llangollen Food and Flower Show and the Cowbridge Food Festival.
Though she has come a long way from her worktop perch in Zimbabwe, in many respects Alex has gone full circle as she seeks to pass on the love of quality fresh ingredients and simple but delicious meals that she picked up as a young girl while watching her mother. Inspired by the experience from her own private lessons, she implemented and designed the cookery school at Llanerch Vineyard as well as designing other kitchens for private and commercial clients.
Now, as CEO of Alex’s Supper Club, and with a TV show in development, her success continues and her passion is undimmed as she aims to bring the joy of cooking to the masses, with a mission to get 1 Million people who don’t currently cook, cooking just one meal a day from scratch.

Monday 5th September 2011
New House Country Hotel, Thornhill, Cardiff 7:30pm Speaker Max Chadwick and the topic is Life Alignment.
Max Chadwick BA (Hons), LC Dip, is a practicing life coach, workshop leader and trainer.
Max work’s freelance mainly in the areas of personal development, training, domestic violence and employment.
Working one-on-one or in groups, Max utilizes his experience as a Life Coach and trainer to help people to align themselves with who they really are and with the reality of their life situation. Everything else follows on from that.
Organisations he has worked with include John Lewis, British Gas, Flying Start, Atal-y-Fro, Women’s Aid, Parkinson’s UK, A4E, Working Links and Cardiff and Merthyr Councils etc.
Several programmes Max has developed are now being used by organizations and their staff. Some examples are ‘Pattern Changing’ to help women who have been or are in abusive relationships, and ‘Ready, steady Work’ which is used to help the long term unemployed back into work.
Everybody wants to be happy. This is natural. But what we think or feel will make us happy is often misguided at best and damaging at worst.
People think ‘ I want to be more confident’ or ‘I want better relationships’ or ‘I want to make the right decisions about my career’ or ‘I want to raise my self esteem’
We desire these outcomes because we want to be happy, and we believe these attitudes, circumstances, and choices will lead to happiness. They may in the short term, but in and of themselves they won’t.
What leads to a state of lasting happiness is being ourselves; and then living our life from this state of being.
What is it to be authentic then? And why is it so hard to be ourselves?
It isn’t. We just haven’t had many good role models for it. We’ve learned of nothing better.
But it is a real possibility, and with this comes the opportunity to live authentic lives.
This is the motivation behind Life Alignment.
This programme is Integral in approach, which means it will look both inside a person at mindsets, values, and cultures and outside at their skills and behaviours, as well as to the wider organisational and social systems etc.
My experience of working with thousands of people as a life coach in various settings, has led me to the inescapable conclusion that very few people are living to their full potential.
This is not just potential in terms of being captains of industry or making vast sums of money (nothing wrong with either of these if done from an authentic centre) – but potential in terms of being an authentic human being and having a real relationship with life.
So if you would like to experience some of what Life Alignment is about, the Yes Group meeting will give you a chance to see it for yourself.
Two Meetings in June. the 6th and 27th. See below for full details.

Yes Group Meeting Monday 4th April 2011. First Speaker Cathie Brown, Topic Will the real Cathie Brown stand up!
About The Evening Will the real Cathie Brown stand up!
I may not be sexy, beautiful or even have the perfect body. I may not be everyone's first choice, but I am ME and I don't pretend to be anyone else. I may not be proud of some of the things I've done but I am proud of who I am TODAY!! I may not be exactly where I aim to be, but thank God I am not where I used to be. I AM GRATEFUL TO BE ME – Author Unknown
In this inspirational talk, Cathie shares with you her unique perspective in overcoming many of life’s challenges, including her recent assessment of grade 3 breast cancer and how she saw each challenge as a gift, that has been essential in providing the clarity of purpose she enjoys today.
In this talk you will discover that who you are is already enough. The reason many people doubt this is because we’ve been conditioned to believe that who we are is based on the job we do, or the possessions we have, or how we look or what other people think of us. As such, we frequently fall short in one or all areas and feel incomplete and not good enough. But possessions, achievements and other peoples’ opinions do not define who we are. The truth is there is nothing wrong with you and nothing missing. The only thing ‘wrong’ is your thoughts about who you are! And so the invitation for all attendees is simple: Will you dare to be ‘wrong’ about who you think you are? If so … then it’s time to unveil the REAL You!
Our second speaker is Allan Kleynhans his presentation will cover the Laws of The Mind and is titled 'Out of The Matrix'. He will cover s imple strategies and tools for people to use so they can take complete control of how they feel moment to moment, consciously creating their life from the inside out and in alignment with the divinity their soul wants to express. His talk will also contain personal stories of his own transformation and the results he has created in different areas, moving from an emotional wreck to a powerful leader in control of his emotional state .
He is an expert at assisting people to create change consciously, no matter how large the obstacle or challenges facing them. He has overcome severe personal challenges, from being homeless and addicted to drugs to running a very successful speaking business, his own fire walk seminars for some of the biggest companies in the world and coaching some of the most succssful sportspeople in the world. He has a very unique story and it inspires and enthuses his audience to conquer their own obstacles with renewed intensity.
Allan Kleynhans says “I live and work from the core belief that people are born with enormous reserves of power and energy. Encouraged, taped and channeled correctly, this energy allows people to create and perform at an outstanding level. From a leadership perspective, when you get individuals to invest themselves emotionally in a common vision with purpose, you build an unstoppable team. In today’s world change is inevitable, while growth is optional. Embracing change and growth is the key to long-term success. I look forward to working with your team to make that happen.”
Allan Kleynhans is a highly entertaining and thoroughly effective Professional Speaker and Peak Performance Coach. He is an expert in assisting and empowering people and organisations to create sustainable change. He regularly facilitates public and corporate seminars and workshops on personal and emotional mastery and the psychology of spiritual leadership. His initial interest in behavioral conditioning began in 1986 when he was conscripted to the South African Defense Force. He returned home from Angola two years later and realized support for South African soldiers, who had been deployed and were suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, was non-existent. So began his study into the dynamics of the mind and human behavior, and in 1989 he left home to further his education abroad.
He has studied and worked with the biggest names in the self-improvement industry like Anthony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Deepak Chopra, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, Bob Proctor, Randy Gage, Robin Banks, John Kehoe and Landmark Education. In 2001,
